Visualize your IT Assets
In addition to lists, reports, and dashboard widgets, the diagramming and mapping capabilities in Lansweeper Sites enhance your experience of discovering and understanding the state of your inventory.
They provide a visual representation of the organization's IT assets, their relationships to each other, and their overall infrastructure.

This allows teams to quickly and easily identify potential problems, such as hardware or software conflicts, and make informed decisions about how to address them.

Additionally, diagrams can help teams plan for future growth and changes to the organization's IT infrastructure and can also be used for compliance and audit purposes.
They also help to identify the location of the IT assets, their physical condition, and other vital information that can be crucial for the ITAM process.
The diagrams provide a high-level overview of your network topology. You can see which systems are connected to which switch. And if you have monitor scanning, diagrams will also display which monitors are connected to which asset.
There are three ways diagrams are discovered and created within Lansweeper:
- SNMP for network relations, and is primarily used for network topology
- WMI is used on Windows assets for monitor relationships
- Manually created relationships
The diagrams feature is only available in the Lansweeper Sites and not available in Lansweeper Classic.
Environments
There are two types of diagrams created by Lansweeper; Network topology and Virtual Environment.
Network Topology
The network topology diagrams will display the network switches, firewalls, and all connected assets. If Lansweeper isn’t able to discover the relationship, it will put it into a category called “orphaned”. These orphaned assets can be discovered by ensuring proper scanning credentials are applied or by manually assigning their relationship.
Virtual Environment
The virtual environment will display the physical server with all the related virtual systems. As we continue to expand the diagramming feature, our currently supported virtual environments are Hyper-V and VMware. These diagrams are more linear in their structure and show relationships within “boxes” based on host and virtual relations.
