Engaged Sweeper

Hey Guys,

If we manually add an asset (laptop) to Lansweeper before it is powered on and prior to agent being installed and say add a custom state e.g Offline Stock... once that laptop is then powered on and the agent is connected would the status automatically update to Active?

We are trying to find a way the best way to manage our assets before they are powered on. Any recommendations would be very helpful!

Cheers,

Ash

@Ashman24 When a network asset is being scanned, Lansweeper needs to determine whether the asset is already present in the Lansweeper database. It does this by comparing data pulled from the asset being scanned with data already in the database. This is called the "unique key". For a Windows computer this is: <NetBIOS domain or workgroup name>\<NetBIOS computer name>\1.

When you create your new asset in the database, select Windows as the asset type and correctly populate the Assetname, Mac Address, Model, Domain, and serial. This will ensure that the scanned device merged with the earlier manually created device in the database when it is first scanned.

The status should automatically update to Active after the device is scanned.
