This page explains how you can install the Lansweeper database, scanning service and web console separately.

This page is for Lansweeper Sites. For Lansweeper On-prem, see Install Lansweeper components separately.

In Lansweeper's advanced installation path, you gain full control over the components you install on which machine, allowing for a customized setup that optimally suits your requirements.

If you’re installing all three Lansweeper components on separate machines, make sure that you first install the database, followed by the scanning service, and finally the web console.

Prerequisites

  • Make sure that your system meets the minimum requirements.
  • A SQL version other than LocalDB will required to install the Lansweeper components on separate machines, as LocalDB limits external connections to the database.

Install the Lansweeper database

Before installing the Lansweeper database, make sure that your SQL Server instance has been properly configured to host the database. For a step-by-step guide on setting up your SQL Server, see Configure SQL Server instance to host the Lansweeper database.

In order for Lansweeper to properly function, your SQL Server instance must have it’s Server authentication set to Mixed authentication mode.

 Install the database

  1. In your Lansweeper Site, go to Configuration > Installations > Download installers/packages.
  2. Select Download IT Network Discovery and run the latest installer.
  3. Select Next, review the terms of use and tick I accept the agreement.
  4. Select New installation, and then choose Advanced install.
  5. Select SQL Server as the database type.
  6. Select New Lansweeper Database and click Next.
  7. Enter the FQDN or IP of the database host server, or select it from the dropdown list.
  8. In the Authentication dropdown, select the authentication method you want to use to connect to SQL Server and select Next.
If you choose Windows authentication, the database installation is performed under the currently logged on Windows user.
If you choose SQL authentication, you need to submit your SQL username and password.
Lansweeper will only work if Mixed authentication mode is enabled. If you haven’t properly configured your SQL Server instance, the installer will try to set the Server authentication to Mixed authentication mode. This will only work if the provided credentials have the rights to make changes to your SQL Server configuration.
  9. Select Browse... to choose an installation folder.
  10. Select Install to start the installation process, and Finish to exit the installer.

Install the Lansweeper scanning service

Before installing the Lansweeper scanning service, make sure that you've installed the database first.

Install the scanning server

  6. Select New Lansweeper Service and click Next.
  9. Select Browse... to choose an installation folder.
  10. Select Install to start the installation process, and Finish to exit the installer.

Install the Lansweeper web console

Before installing the Lansweeper web console, make sure that you've installed the database and the scanning service first.

Install the web console

  6. Select New Lansweeper Website and click Next.
  9. Enter the HTTP and HTTPS ports to install the web console under and select Next.
  10. Select Browse... to choose an installation folder.
