A feature for cloning assets inside lansweeper would be very helpful. Especially if you purchase more of specific models to not have to fill out everything from scratch.

I'm surprised that cloning an existing asset is not a thing from within the UI. We might only have 10 assets we want to input but having to construct a CSV each time to import 10 records can be messy and if someone constructs it badly it could cause more issues than it's worth. Having the ability to copy the asset details from an existing asset when creating a new one would be super helpful. We only need to change the asset name, barcode and serial number each time. All the other information remains the same e.g. purchase date, stock location, warranty dates, comments (maybe even the relations should copy across if you use the system to identify what system it's to be used with). Doing this in the UI will save a lot of time. If it can be done in bulk via a CSV why not from the UI itself?

I guess if the UI pre-populates the new asset form controls with values from the previously chosen asset then the JS validation, etc. should still apply as if you were adding it from scratch so it should not be hard to do.

We are tracking periphery devices like docking stations, keyboards, cameras or some monitors manually which are used mainly outside of our office / network.

We currently have about 80 such devices some using mostly the same few models.

There is an option to import assets with an csv, but I'll have to try it in the next few days when we want to import multiple devices.

I'm pretty sure if you import purchased PCs, say from a vendor order, it will make the assets, but then make a dupe once the PC joins the domain and is scanned via active scanning.

Blackmoon are you importing windows assets that would be scanned via active scanning? i'm guessing not. if so, it doesn't make a dupe when actually scanned? It's been a while but I think it makes a dupe.

I've considered that having the ability to fill out a CSV and upload it would be pretty handy. This functionality saves us TONS of time trying to manage - literally - THOUSANDS of assets in the data center that I work in.

Implementing it shouldn't be too terribly difficult...

what exactly are you having to fill out when you purchase more models?
