Engaged Sweeper II
I'm just diving in to organizing our Assets into groups, and I keep running into walls with duplicates or an Asset that ends up in the wrong group because its IP has changed. Domain Computers are using the hostname, which is fine. I found a breakout of what Asset Type uses MAC vs IP, but our system is not working as in the article. Assets flagged as a Network Device are using the IP as the Unique ID.

Is there a place I can go and edit what field is being used as the Unique ID for the various Asset Types?

Hi Josh R Smith,

When scanned successfully and the MAC can be detected, Non-Windows assets should have the MAC address as the unique key. Ideally, these should be scanned with SNMP.

When in doubt you can always drop a mail to support@lansweeper.com. Our technical support team will be happy to assist you with further support regarding your issue.
