Recently we have started getting duplicate serial numbers on quite a few monitors. All 16843009. These show up from different vendors/models. Google searches for this show that this same serial number often shows when read from the registry from a variety of inventory scanning products. We have been using Lansweeper for almost 2 years and this has just started to happen.

Is this a Lansweeper issue that will be addressed? A problem with the monitors in how they report the serial number? Or something else that we can fix on our end?

Thanks,
Andrew

We've encountered these types of issues in the past, the problem lies with that the monitor vendor set up the monitor to populate the serial number fields in the registry with a generic serial number. We've hardcoded fixes for specific monitor models in the past that exhibit these kinds of issues. Please send in a support ticket via email to support@lansweeper.com with the following information so we can investigate whether a fix in a future Lansweeper release is possible for these monitor models or not.

For each monitor model:
  • The full model name of the monitor
  • The full output of this tool run on the Windows computer this monitor is connected to.
  • The serial number reported in Lansweeper, a screenshot of the asset page of the monitor.
  • The real serial number of the monitor, a picture of the back of the monitor for instance.
