Just something that came up as I re-examine and update our asset retention policies in Lansweeper. This may apply to other fields as well.
My question, as posed in the subject; does an asset identified as an Asset Radar asset ever stop being identified as an Asset Radar asset? And is there any way to change this designation? This probably only matters when you start looking at the Cleanup Options, as there are unique and specific options for Asset Radar options.
As an example, see the attached Scan Time details for a Windows laptop that is identified as an Asset Radar asset. The last "Asset Radar" detection was from March 18. Since that time, it has been scanned continuously via LsAgent, as well as being detected and scanned via AD active scanning. So, is it really an Asset Radar asset any more?
This could be a problem. This laptop is used by someone who works from home, and connects intermittently via VPN to the main office. So the IP address at which asset radar originally detected the device is no longer valid for this device; it was likely an IP delivered via DHCP for one of our on premises wireless networks, possibly when the device was first being staged. There's a chance this device may never come back on premises during its lifecycle.
So, how do the Asset Radar cleanup options affect it? Or do they? If, for instance, we had the option to "Permanently delete Asset Radar assets if not seen in the last x days" set to 30 days, would this asset have been deleted? I'm assuming the fact that it is getting picked up via LsAgent scanning would override that setting, but it would be nice to be sure. And if it is powered off for a over 30 days (e.g. someone's on vacation), what options would kick in? If, for instance, we have the following scenario:
General: "Permanently delete assets not seen in the last x days" set to 90 days
Asset Radar: "Permanently delete Asset Radar assets if not seen in the last x days" set to 30 days
Which rule takes precedence?
These are the questions that keep me up at night. Well, maybe not; I really like my sleep. But still, it would be nice to know for sure.
All opinions are welcome and valid. Actually informed opinions are just considered more valuable. 😁

Hello StillGoing,
In both cleanup options, we look at LastSeen, which is basically the last successful scan.
The general cleanup rule is taking that as a reference, while the cleanup option for AssetRadar will also use LastAssetRadar.
So, the cleanup rule for asset radar will only kick in if both the LastSeen and LastAssetRadar are older than the set cleanup interval. If LastSeen is newer, for example, the assets will not get deleted from the LsAgent scan.
