I'm looking over the documentation for active scanning and see that it gets the machine info from Active Directory, but in order to get group policy settings changed here I need to know more about how it works. Is it getting the computers IP address through reverse dns or wins? We don't use reverse dns here.

I am able to scan a machine just fine with lsclient, but not at all with active scanning or lstrigger to computers that I've not already scanned with lsclient.

Thanks,

Jared

Active scanning queries all domain controllers every 15 minutes for recently logged on computers.
(If you just turned it on you might miss some computer logged on earlier, but this will correct the next time they connect to active directory)

Lansweeper tries to scan in this order:
1) fqdn name from AD
2) computername
3) IP returned from dns

PS.
Make sure you use version 3.5.1
