Failed to connect

I just installed sql 2005 express and Lansweeper 3.2 for the first time.
i am running this on winxp pro
i followed the install directions according to the documentation for Lansweeper install
i have the webserver working

however everytime i try to use lsclient to connect to the database i keep getting failed

Any help would be appreciated as i am a newbie...i will do my best to provide more info if you request it.

Also if i open up webbrowser and go to 127.0.0.1:9524 or go to testserver:9524 i get page can not be displayed.

but i can go to the Lansweep web console and the reports show up but there is nothing in them obviously

So you are able to see the webpage right?
When you go to the windows services, is the lansweeper service started?
When you go to the service folder you should see and errorlog.txt with a list of errors that might help you to solve the problem.

I did notice that when i did a netstat -a 9524 does not show up...i think that is my problem but i do not know how to get it to listen.
