I am trying a test install of lansweeper on a XP Pro box connected to our domain. I installed SQL express, etc. and that seemed to go just fine.

When I try to install lansweeper, however, everything appears to go ok until I get to the "Lansweeper Database Configuration" gui page. I select my server name, and then windows authentication. THe gui returns a successful connection to the database. When I enter my domain admin account name and passwd, the gui says that my user has no administrative rights to our domain. This is not correct.

The install finishes and the web console starts...but I am guessing something is not right.

The errorlog.txt gives me this: 1/22/2009 10:34:53 AM : Database connection successful, starting up service
so it is not much help.

Is there anything else I can check to see what problems I have....or a way to check to see if it is working (an on demand scan)?

I would appreciate any help.

Manual scanning is not possible.

You should use :
lsclient <server where the service is installed>

When I refreshed the web console I began receiving sql database errors. I shut down the database services and rebooted the machine.

I tried to scan the local machine (that is running the server) and I was able to obtain results. Great!

I would like to manually scan another machine in our office (on the same domain)as a test. How do I do that? Do I install the lansweeper service on that machine? If so what do I type at the command line if my first machine (running the lansweeper database) is named SERVER and the database is the default install SQLEXPRESS?

Something like this? lsclient.exe \\SERVER\SQLEXPRESS

I would like to be able to manually scan machines in our office...and not have to rely on logon scripts or GPO if I can.

Thanks!

Hi,

Did you downloaded the latest version from our site?
Older installers had this problem.

"Database connection successful, starting up service"
When you get this everything is working.

Why do you think that your lansweeper is not working?
When you do a test with lsclient.exe, does it start scanning?
