Hello,

I would like to know the performance impact on a client when the scan is running (WMI, Remote registry). I am planning to install the software in my production network and I need to make sure that it will not add load on the clients.

Thank you,

Indeed, all correct, so basicly the first scan takes the longest time, afterwards only the items where the waittime is expired

I will try that.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong but here's how I understand the scanning works:

To run, the scan has to be triggered (by lstrigger or by the login script).

Then, for each clients, the software looks for the "Days" value. If it is set to 0, it will scan it every time it is triggered. Else, it will keep a day count and will scan the "modules" every x days (according to their values).

So if I understand properly, once a scan has been triggered, it will not happen automatically by itself. I will have to trigger it again (either by lstrigger or by the login script).

Thanks,

You could try with performance monitor.
Trigger a scan and make sure that nothing else is running on the server.

Hi Geert,

Thanks for the quick answer.

I am asking that because I know that WMI queries can sometimes use around 20% of the CPU. How does the scanning process works? Is there a way I can benchmark a server while the scan is occuring?

By the way, thank you for your great product!

In my experience, the load is almost not noticed except on very old machines.
Maybe others can share their thoughts.
