Engaged Sweeper
We are doing agency wide upgrading to Windows 7. We are removing the hard drives or re-imaging them with Windows 7. Sometimes the computer name may be the same and sometimes changed to conform to a new naming convention. We are trying to get an accurate tracking of Windows XP and Windows 7 as we migrate with a weekly status of the numbers. I am not sure if there are duplicates with the standard configuration settings. What should I have the settings set at to assure that we get an accurate weekly report on how many Windows 7 and Windows XP machines are out there eliminating any duplicates?

I hope this makes sense.

I appreciate any help.
Thanks.

You can check on the page configuration/server options Detect when a computer has been renamed. Then Lansweeper will make sure that there are no duplicates. The only condition for this to work is that the network cards of these computers are not changed. This is because lansweeper looks at the mac address to merge two asset pages.
