2 switches but Lansweeper only sees one or the other

My customer has several BlackBox switches2 have the same first 4 hex numbers of 2 switches are the same. When Lansweeper scans using the IP address of the asset, it will add a switch. If I scan for the other switch IP address, instead of adding the asset it will change the name, the IP, and the MAC address of the asset. The active ports change (Up/Down display), but names of the devices connected to the ports do not change. The comment on the asset include statements that MAC address1 was merged into MAC address 2 or MAC address2 was merged into MAC address1.

Any one else have this situation?

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot it?

FYI for everyone: if non-Windows assets are overwriting each other, these assets most likely share one or more MAC addresses. All of a non-Windows device's MAC addresses are expected to be unique. If a MAC address is shared with another device, those devices will start overwriting each other in the database.

You can connect to the devices with this tool to list all of the devices' MAC addresses and identify the common ones. Afterwards, you can add the common MACs (e.g. through a script) to the tsysMacBlacklist table in the Lansweeper database. Blacklisting the common MAC addresses will prevent the devices from overwriting each other.
