Solution

Lansweeper’s asset discovery provides deep visibility into both IP-enabled and non-IP-enabled assets within an IoT/OT environment.

For IP-enabled IoT devices, the platform uses direct network scanning to detect, identify, and gather comprehensive data on each asset. This method is effective for any IoT device with a unique IP address.

For non-IP-enabled IoT/OT assets, Lansweeper extends its discovery capabilities by scanning a connected, IP-enabled host or primary device. By analyzing the data from the connected device, it can discover and enumerate the attached non-IP assets. For example, it can identify an offline Operational Technology (OT) module by scanning the network-connected OT device it is physically or logically a part of. This ensures a complete inventory of all assets, regardless of their network configuration.
