Summary
Situation
You may notice that the registry keys or registry values reported for an asset are outdated. This inconsistency raises concerns about the accuracy and reliability of your asset data.
Why this happens
The reason for these outdated results could be that your system is not scanning registry data frequently enough. The system uses the Scanned Item Interval setting to determine how many days it should wait before performing a new, full registry scan. If this interval is set to a value greater than 0, the data you see might be several days old.
Resolution: Update The Scanned Item Interval Scanning
To ensure you get the most current registry data, you can set the registry scan interval to 0 (zero):
- In the Lansweeper on-premises web console, go to the Scanning menu
- Click on Scanned Item Interval
- Locate the setting for the scanned item: REGISTRY
- Adjust the Interval to 0
- After saving the change, initiate a full rescan of the affected assets
Note: To avoid unnecessary network traffic during agentless scanning, not all Windows and Linux computer data is rescanned all the time. As your computer's processor does not change on a regular basis for instance, it makes sense not to rescan this data during every scan attempt. A value of 0 means that, when a computer is rescanned, the specified data will always be updated. For more information, you can refer to this KB article: https://community.lansweeper.com/t5/scanning-your-network/manage-scanned-item-intervals/ta-p/64335

This adjustment should resolve the fluctuations in registry scan results by ensuring the system is collecting current data during its scanning cycles.
