Now that you have decided to embark on a Lansweeper trial, you will need to understand how to create a site and install and sync the two.



Installation requirements

Before you begin your Lansweeper trial, it's essential to ensure that you have the following in place:

  • Windows admin account: You will need a local admin account for scanning Windows machines.
  • Linux or Unix read-only access: Ensure you have read-only access for Linux or Unix machines.
  • IP range scan target: Prepare an IP range scan target that includes the devices you want to manage, such as servers, workstations, network switches, firewalls, and optionally, other devices like printers and IoT devices.
  • Internet Access: Ensure your Lansweeper server has internet access for updates and information retrieval.

To get the most out of Lansweeper's capabilities, consider setting up additional scan targets for a comprehensive view of your network. In addition to IP range scan targets, you can also configure scans for:

  • Active Directory (Domain or OU)
  • vCenter
  • Cloud Environments (Azure, Intune, AWS)

Create your Lansweeper Site

Now, let's create your Lansweeper Site, your central hub for managing your network assets.

To create a Lansweeper site:

  1. Visit
  2. Register using your email and password.
  3. Choose a name for your site.


Install Lansweeper

To install Lansweeper on your server, download the IT Scanner, then run the installation wizard, which will guide you through the installation process.

Installation options

Lansweeper offers two installation options to suit your needs:

  • Easy Installation: A simplified process suitable for most.
  • Advanced Installation: An in-depth process that provides more configuration options for people who want to explore advanced settings.

Sync to your Lansweeper Site

As part of the installation, it's crucial to sync your Lansweeper server with your site. Return to your Lansweeper Site, copy the linking code provided and paste the code in the installer.

This final step ensures that all your assets are properly linked and manageable through your Lansweeper site.
