Another malware called Adylkuzz has been reported to have been using the same SMB vulnerability as the WannaCry ransomware cyber-attack. Unlike WannaCry, Adylkuzz will not lock the computer it is located on but will instead run in the background. Adylkuzz - being a cryptocurrency malware - will generate digital cash while keeping the users of the machine unaware of its existence and activity.
Certain criteria that are linked to a computer being infected by Adylkuzz are:
- Loss of access to shared Windows resources
- Degradation of PC and server performance
As the Adylkuzz mining malware uses the same vulnerability as WannaCry you can use the report in
this forum thread to check if there may be any machines that are vulnerable to getting infected.
