Hi Admin,

I would like to install the whole lansweeper package on a windows 7 machine. Will there be any issues with it....(present or for the next release of Version 5).

Kind Regards,
Moss

Thanks,

I found what the problem was. It was not the ports but the service account for some reason was selected as local admin account rather than the domain user account. As soon as I enabled that it started working.

This can now be closed.

The easiest way would be to create a GPO: http://www.lansweeper.com/kb/firewall.aspx

Thanks I have seen that post. I am just concerned that the random ports you are talking about, Does it have to be configured on the server only or on all the client machines.

If it has to be on all machines, is there a workaround somehow other than configuring fixed ports, as we have a mix of xp and windows 7 clients.

See: http://www.lansweeper.com/kb/used-TCP-ports.aspx

The "random ports" can be a problem

Hi Admin,

Thanks for the reply. Lastly can you please inform what ports does lansweeper use between the server and client machines. I have enabled firewall ports on client machines using the instructions on FAQ.

If the server and client machines are on different VLANS ( different IP subnets) can you please specify what network ports do I need to enable between these 2 different networks for it to work.

Thanks,
Moss
