Modify Field properties

Hi
I'm demoing beta 4.2 now and really like it. I would like to know is there a way to modify the properties of the fields. For example, My boss wants me to create a report that i export out to excel and it shows the purchased field with a time stamp as well. I would like it to be just the date.
