Hello..,
a free-lansweeper user asking question

my lsclient is triggered via a login script.

what really makes a computer falls into "never scanned OS" category?
I've tried running the lsclient manually.., directly from that specific workstation but still no luck.

anything else I should pay more attention to fix this?

thank you!

In my case, there were a few times of WMI error 0x800706BA and followed all the suggested troubleshooting but the error was still there. Finally I decided to apply every Windows update availabe and voilá... the computer was scanned successfully.

Verify that the DNS is giving you the correct IP of the machine.
I spent hours trying to get things to work, thinking it was a firewall issue, but in the end, the DHCP hadn't updated the DNS with the correct IP, so when Lansweeper were trying to connect to MYCMP it got an old IP for my machine, so it couldn't connect...obviously! 🙂

Well, that fixed that problem... Now I will have to spend some time figuring out why the DNS wasn't updated in the first place.

Any input on that matter is ofc appreciated! 🙂

1) Check if replication is configured for your dns servers.
2) On the DHCP server check if "always update DNS" is checked.

Thanks, already did that. Let's hope it fixes things.
Did an ipconfig /renew on my computer, but nothing happened. But, I got the same IP... could be why.
After I deleted my computer from the DHCP and the DNS, and then did a renew, it showed up with the correct IP in the DNS.

If you can't open a connection then it's firewalled. (by xp firewall or a third party firewall)
This is a standard port that windows uses.

said "could not open connection to the host, on port 135"
the dcom is enabled.

Can you manually telnet to port 135 on the computer?
Is dcom enabled on the computer (normally this is enabled by default)

we have Windows Firewall disabled, company wide by global policy.

This is most of the time not caused by Corrupt WMI but by a firewall blocking access.
