"RPC server is unavailable 0x800706BA" and "Generic Failure"

Hi,
we have a problem with our installation of lansweeper; some workstations return the error "The RPC server is unavailable 0x800706BA". Windows firewall disabled, telnet on 135 is ok, no other firewall in the middle. Other workstations return an error like "Generic failure" (valid for ip, name and fqdn).
The connection test is not successfully for all these computers/servers.

What could we do?

To manually change the firewall on the client you can use this script:

call netsh firewall set service RemoteAdmin enable
call netsh firewall add portopening protocol=tcp port=135 name=DCOM_TCP135
call netsh firewall add allowedprogram program=%windir%\system32\wbem\unsecapp.exe name=WMI
call netsh firewall add allowedprogram program=%windir%\system32\dllhost.exe name=Dllhost

But if you have a GPO in place this might be overwritten.

I've enabled the parameter with netsh firewall set service type = remoteadmin mode = enable and the firewall status output changed, but still no result.
But I've notice that for one of the machines the server with lansweeper installed can't resolve the name even if the other machines can resolve it! I've put it temporarily in the file host and everything is ok. I'll check more about these problems for the other workstations and I'll post again in any case. Thanks again

Couls you post the output of "netsh firewall show state" for one of the computers with rpc error and a list of installed software please.

After rebuild Wmi the problem persists.
We've also tried to launch lsclient from the clients, but no result.. about 10 machines

You could try rebuilding WMI, see (6) http://www.lansweeper.com/kb/accessdenied.aspx
