Engaged Sweeper
hi guys.

deployed lansweeper today. very impressed with what it can do, but having an issues with 3 machines

27 machines have registered so far (out of about 60, expect the rest to come on tomorrow since I missed 9am when most people log on)

3 XP machines are failing to scan. All with
Wmierror The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA) GEORGECOULTER (georgecoulter.domain.co.uk) \root\default

The firewall policy is set to allow remote access, but I have even disabled the firewall completely.

If I run connectiontest locally on the problem client it reports success (127.0.0.1 or the assigned IP)

LS client connects the lansweeper server and reports sucess

when I try connectiontest remotely it fails.

I have tried various scripts to repair the WMI service, none seem to have worked.

Windows management instrumentation and RPC services are running and set to auto

dns to the lansweeper server seems to resolve fine.

All of these are on
http://www.s-code.com/kayako/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=14

Have also tried this script to fix wmi
http://www.eggheadcafe.com/conversation.aspx?messageid=30459843&threadid=30459821

when I try to repair WMI like this it also fails
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/repairwmi.htm

The MS WMI tool is reporting errors, but nothing I can decifer but I have uploaded it here:

Happy to try any suggestions to get this fixed

Thanks

Tom

Issue solved. It wasn't ACL. The clients in question had a Check Point Firewall client on them (to connect to remote sites) which had a "Check Point Secure Client" binding to the IP stack on the Client which stopped the traffic.

Disable the Check Point on the Network connection properties (un tick) and all working fine.

Just realised the (now 4) machines that arn't working are on a different IP range, and I can't ping them from the lansweeper server. Think its an ACL issue, going to investigate, will post back

Could you try the connectiontester from the server to the client with the same useraccount as the service.
Try on both "georgecoulter.domain.co.uk" , "GEORGECOULTER" and "ipaddress of GEORGECOULTER"

On the client disable the windows firewall service just to be sure.
