I just installed LanSweeper recently and activated it today. It seems to pick up some of the items for Windows Vista users, but not everything. For example, the installed software list is completely blank. There are several errors listed, which I'm sure is the cause of it not picking stuff up:
PROCESS String or binary data would be truncated. The statement has been terminated. 10/9/2007 10:56:32 AM
SOFTWARE The network path was not found. 10/9/2007 10:56:19 AM
REGISTRY The network path was not found. 10/9/2007 10:56:19 AM
IEBARS The network path was not found. 10/9/2007 10:56:19 AM
IEBHO The network path was not found. 10/9/2007 10:56:19 AM
IEEXT The network path was not found. 10/9/2007 10:56:19 AM
IEACTIVEX The network path was not found. 10/9/2007 10:56:19 AM
Does anyone know what, if anything, can be enabled in Vista to make these items work?
Thanks,
Bret

That took care of most of the issues. Still getting an error, but it's with a part I'm not really interested in, so no worries. This is by far the best and least intrusive inventory program I've seen. Now I just have to figure out how to audit my handful of remote users. I guess I have to have the connect to VPN and run something. But they're all vista users, so the automatic start of remote registry isn't going to happen for them either since the login script doesn't run. There isn't a web-based audit option is there?
Really looking forward to the 3.0 release. Having reports available will make this a really awesome product. For now, I guess I'll re-code my own reports to work off this data.
Thanks for such a great product!

On vista the remote registry service is disabled by default.
Change it to automatic.
