Just FYI in that I have just setup a Vista machine and I get the same problem with a black screen viewer screen. TightVNC (WinVNC.exe and the DLL) will copy over to the machine it will install and start the service, but because it starts it as a system service all I get for a view is a black screen that is the client I am attempting to control. Again this does look to be a tightVNC issue as I previously posted.

Also should this be moved to a new post I feel like NYNets post has been highjacked

Did you verify that the Remote Registry service is set to start?

I was looking into the tightVNC support base and I came up with this, this makes me think the LSremote will not work with vista or Win7.

"Does TightVNC work on Windows Vista?
Yes, it does, but it cannot be used as a system service. This issue is under investigation."

From what I can see Vista and Win7 are the same for the most part when it comes to the services and security. I do notice that when the LSremote is ran from the web interface it copies the files over to the client then installs and starts the services, but the service is running as the system account. If I start the WinVNC.exe (the same one that is copied over when running it from the web client) directly on the computer (I get the icon in the taskbar) then use VNCviewer the remote connection works just fine. Is there a way to package the tightVNC within the LSremote to install and run the services as a user when it sets itself up on the client. Preferably as the user that started the LSremote from the web interface.

Vista should work, windows 7 is not tested.
Could you check if your remote registry service is running?

I do not know about Vista, but I did get this on a Win7 box. after turnning on the remote registry service it now works BUT all I get is a black screen. I am interested if starting the remote reg service will allow the connection on your Vista and if you also get just a black screen. Vista and Win7 may not work with the tightVNC ????? do not know (no vista boxes running). My 2 Win7 systems were Dell optilexs one a 620 the other a 745

I have this issue only on my Vista Business Machine. I have the same AV loaded on all workstations and have no problems.

Do you have this on all workstations?
We had a problem in the past where an antivirus application was blocking the software.
