Hi, Has anyone got lansweeper working in a workgroup environment? I have a novell network which doesnt sit to cleverly with windows and therefore all our PCs sit in the same workgroup. This always causes major headaches when using a network console like lansweeper or McAfee Epolicy.
The server services are running OK, i can view the database no problem from the client however when I try to get a software report I get the following error
WMIerror: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)
I have tried / checked the following:
Changed LanSweeper service account to a local admin account that also exists locally on each client
checked DCOM settings
checked all services are running on server and client
connected to client registry from the server
checked listening port is active on server
checked admin account exists with full access within WMIcontrol
I know this is a common problem that a lot of people are having however I dont see anyone relating it to a windows workgroup environment. Does anyone know if it will even work in a workgroup environment?
Please Help! Cheers

i've tried all advices that i found on the forum without of luck.
I had to put those PCs to domain, and left the users to work with a local accounts as they did before.
And now all is perfect. I can scan all PCs.

A workgroup is not supported but I believe if you search the forum that some people got it to work (using one single account used by the alternate credentials)

I have the same problem on about 10 PC.
Our network is on samba domain, but some PC are not on domain, they are in workgroup.
Lansweeper work fine on domain, the server turn with domain user rights as "domain\user"
I had to add on all PC this user to administrator group.
The local user on different PC with the same name are not equivalent, because the hostname is different.
So hostname1\admin and hostname2\admin it's not the same user.
In the Premium version you can alternate the credentials, so your server can connect to PCs as hostname1\admin or hostname2\admin
But it's not work in my case.
May be you will have more luck.
Lansweeper don't support the domain or workgroup, so it's useless to wait for help from the support
ps. Sorry for my English 😄
