Workstation gets shutdown when scanned

I have one XP workstation that shutsdown when scanned. The RPC service stops and as a result shutdown gets initiated. I have looked for differences with other identical machines and cannot find anything except one application. I have stopped it from running but the same thing happens. The folling gets logged in the application log:

The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was 80070005 from line 44 of d:\comxp_sp3\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp.

I checked COM+ security as noted and all is correct. Suggestions?

The problem was SprintView. I uninstalled it and scans work fine. I think this particular laptop was not up to date in this package and there was a conflict with something in the stack.
