We fully utilize Lansweeper for asset management so we keep records of retired and disposed of equipment for audit purposes, especially for software licensing. As we secure erase all retired/disposed equipment we would also like to remove all the data relating to what software WAS installed on that asset, including the OS if possible.
Is it possible to do this?
Cheers and keep up the great work. Now licensed globally at our company as we all love it.
As soon as an asset gets deleted from your database (either manually or by one of the delete options under Configuration\Server options, section Asset cleanup options), all related data will be deleted as well. The asset and the software installed on it won't count any more for your software reports. Do note that most built-in reports consider only assets in state Active.
Deleting specific data for existing assets is not currently supported. You could manually delete data from tblSoftware or other tables which matches the AssetID of the affected asset. However, we don't offer generating database scripts and we can't provide technical troubleshooting for issues which have occurred because of manual modification of data. Alternatively you might consider adding a specific asset type (you can add more asset types under Configuration\Asset pages, section Asset types) which marks assets which you want to exclude from your reports.
Sorry, was super busy when I wrote this post and neglected to mention we want to KEEP the Asset in the database and "strip" out either just the software data or all the data except the basic info you see on the Asset edit screen.
Although for our reports we understand it is possible to report on only "Active" assets, it is important from a legal licensing standpoint we protect ourselves by "stripping" data from the WHOLE database of those assets that have been wiped of data/software etc.
