We have a security policy that web applications should have idle sessions timeout. We have Lansweeper set up with AD integration for a single sign on (SSO) experience. Is there some way to make the session timeout and force the users to either close and reopen their browsers or to sign in with credentials after a length of time?

Thank you,

Beth

Hello there!

Within Lansweeper, there is no configuration option to have idle sessions timeout. Perhaps this is possible within IIS Server, but I'm not familiar with setting this up.

The default web server is IIS Express though, which is probably too limited to configure something like this. So in case you need this, here are migration instructions:

  • To migrate your existing console running under IIS Express (the default web server), to IIS, please reinstall just the web console by following these instructions: https://www.lansweeper.com/knowledgebase/how-to-reinstall-your-lansweeper-website/
  • When you get to step 10, choose the Advanced (IIS) option.
  • Do note that IIS must be enabled on the machine to be able to get this option. If you haven't yet, enable and install Internet Information Services on your Lansweeper server via Add/Remove Programs. Specifically, the full Web Management Tools and World Wide Web Services feature list.

same issue here on build 11.1.10.5 on-prem, i leave about 10 tabs open on my IT jumpbox, as I have several software tabs open so i can review upgrades/obsolete installs to be targeted by my global team & also individual asset tabs for systems we are working on/installing new apps.  until recently i was never signed out for inactivity.  now its just getting irritating, as if you are signed out, all your tabs revert to the main sign in page!!  looks like its if you don't do anything in over 24 hours.

Where is this setting for inactivity, so it can be switched off??

@iainpuk You can configure the timeouts with IIS, but not with IIS Express, which is what Lansweeper uses by default. As mentioned by @Obi_1_Cinobi, you can migrate to IIS if you wish so

@beth_albertson did you get a solution for this inquiry?  I, too, am looking at the automatic timeout period.  Thanks.
