Can we customize asset states to have an asset type other than the default "active" asset?
There is a difference between "asset type" and "asset state".
Asset Type
When scanning a device, Lansweeper uses a complex internal procedure to determine the device's asset type. Examples of asset types are Linux, Apple Mac, Windows, Printer, Router, and Switch.
Many asset types are built-in, but you can create your own as well by following the instructions here: Create asset types
Once you've added an asset type, you can assign it to assets, either manually or automatically.
Asset State
Every scanned or manually created computer and device in Lansweeper has an asset state. States are a Lansweeper feature that allows you to keep track of which machines are active in your network, which have been decommissioned, which are in stock, etc.
There are built-in states, but you can create your own as well. A machine's state is set to "active" by default. However, this state can be changed, either manually or by enabling automated cleanup options.
More information on creating, using, and changing asset states can be found here.
