Multiple customers have reported issues when attempting to scan Hikvision cameras using SNMP.

Cause

Hikvision cameras often do not respond to queries for the following system OID:

1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2.0

This OID is a standard system identifier that is typically available on SNMP-enabled devices. Lansweeper uses this OID at the start of its SNMP scanning process to verify whether SNMP is enabled on a device.

If this OID is not accessible or does not return a response, Lansweeper cannot proceed with SNMP scanning, and the scan will fail.

Impact

Even if:

  • SNMP is enabled on the camera, and
  • The SNMP community string is configured correctly in Lansweeper,

SNMP scanning may still fail if the device does not respond to queries for 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2.0.

This behavior has been observed on multiple Hikvision camera models.

Resolution / Workaround

There is currently no workaround for this issue. The initial check for 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2.0 is hard-coded into the Lansweeper scanning service and cannot be bypassed.

Future considerations

Support for SNMP scanning on devices that do not expose 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2.0 is tracked on our customer wish list. At this time, there is no estimated release date for this enhancement.
