Overview
Some customers have reported that after upgrading their Lansweeper installation to Microsoft SQL Server 2025 Express, the Scanning Status widget on the main dashboard tab of the on-premises web console continues to show a 10 GB database size limit. SQL Server 2025 Express, however, supports a 50 GB database size limit.
This behaviour can understandably cause confusion, but it does not reflect the actual capacity available to Lansweeper.
Impact
This issue is purely cosmetic. The 10 GB limit displayed in the widget is incorrect, but Lansweeper does not enforce this outdated limit.
- The database will successfully grow up to 50 GB, as supported by SQL Server 2025 Express.
- Scanning, data storage, and other system operations are not affected.
- There is no risk of the database being capped at 10 GB due to Lansweeper.
Cause
The Scanning Status widget currently uses legacy logic that still references the SQL Server Express 10 GB limit. This logic was not yet updated to reflect the increased capacity introduced in SQL Server 2025 Express.
Resolution
No action is required from customers. The Lansweeper application will fully utilize the 50 GB limit provided by SQL Server 2025 Express, regardless of what is shown in the widget.
Our development team has been informed (LAN-18075), and an update to correct the displayed value will be included in a future Lansweeper release.
Workaround
There is no workaround needed. If you want to verify the true database size limit, you may reference Microsoft SQL Server documentation or check the database properties directly in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
