Question
I navigated to Scanning > Scanned Item Interval in the web console to enable a scan item, but some options are greyed out. How can I enable these scan items?

Answer
The greyed-out checkbox you are seeing is not used to enable or disable the scan item. Instead, it controls history tracking for that scan item.
To enable or disable a scan item, you must use the drop-down menu in the second column, not the checkbox.
How to enable a scan item
Use the drop-down menu next to the scan item and select one of the following options:
-
All Disabled: The scan item is completely disabled and will never be scanned.
-
Scan Server and LsAgent: The scan item is scanned by both the Scan Server and LsAgent.
-
LsAgent Only: The scan item is scanned only by LsAgent. Note: The Refresh value cannot be configured in this mode.
-
Scan Server Only: The scan item is scanned only by the Scan Server.
What does the History checkbox do?
The History checkbox enables history tracking for a scan item. When enabled, Lansweeper records changes over time instead of only storing the current state.
Examples:
-
Software: detects installations, removals, and updates
-
Operating System: detects OS upgrades and reinstallations
-
Other scan items: tracks any detected changes across their attributes or columns
All detected changes are stored as historical records in the Lansweeper database.
Why is history tracking disabled or greyed out?
-
History tracking is disabled by default for most scan items to reduce database growth.
-
You can manually enable it by selecting the History checkbox.
-
If the History checkbox is greyed out, Lansweeper does not currently support history tracking for that specific scan item.
