AS/400 Scanning, or lack there of

HI all

I’m scanning a WAN with about 1000 PC’s and 350 Windows servers. To all intents and purposes this is working fine.

The problem that I have, is that I get little or no information about the 30 IBM AS/400’s (Power6) that I have. The device name comes up with the FQDN which is fine, IP is correct however they all get listed at “Cisco Systems” under “Device Vendor”. When clicking on the machine, the “Type” is shown as Mail Server.

I’d really like the AS/400’s to have a more relevant description, and interrogated a bit better. What can I do to alleviate this?

The snmp results should show up in the next scan.

Note that you won't get any detailed hardware/software information like you get with windows.

Absolutely, I don't manage the AS/400's but I can get it done.

are you able to enable snmp on the AS/400?
