let me start off by telling you what a great app you have created. I really am excited about useing this in my enviroment. with that said. I would like to give you some details of my enviroment.

3000+ PC's XP/Vista
200+ Servers Windows 2000/2003

I am having problems with some computers not reporting the software or the hardware to my server. I have done tests with my servers and it reports all the details its supposed to.

example. I have a share drive that has the batch file that i am using to run your client app.

\\server1\client$\lsclient.exe server1

when i run this the client connects to the server puts the username and computer name in the correct areas but the computer icon is red. it did not pull any software or the hardware info into the database.

If i run this on any server it runs just fine and give me all details.

any idea what might me happening..
thanks,

Joe

Hi,

I managed to create a database and also hosted the web page. But my problem is the reporting part, as said on the home page of lansweeper.com Lansweeper does not need to install a client on your workstations is it really possible to run scan without running lsclient on the client machines.

However I tried with lsclient on the client pc's, I am not able to get any information regarding the Software or Hardware details as said in previous post. I checked with the connection tester ..... here are the results

Ping test OK
-----------------------------------------------
Remote registry test OK
-----------------------------------------------
Remote WMI access test OK
-----------------------------------------------
Remote \\blrk1d2d\c$ access test OK

But getting this ....... Wmierror The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA) BLRK1D2D (132.186.192.116)

Please help me regarding this.........

Thanks

Ok, Well I think my problem is the Firewall. I have to do some digging. I have a GPO that I have to get permission to modify. I will keep you up to date on my results.

I want to thank you for helping me.

Thanks,

Joe

You have to run the connection tester from the same machine as where your service is installed (under the same user credentials as the service)

I see these names in your error list:

S30611\admin
ALTAMONTE\Baldwin-Fairchild

What is the name of your domain and what is the name of your local computer?

Let's try to solve one error at a time.

You can't do anything wrong.
If you have errors, this means that:
-The account does not have the necessary permissions on the client.
-The client is firewalled, wmi disabled, remote registry disabled, ...

Anyhow, it might be a good idea to move the connection tester to the free tools.

I am not using the local account.

Let’s say my client is logged into the machine. Then I have a path that I have shared out. once I launch the .cmd file it says successful but when I go to look at the web page it show a red mark. I must be doing something wrong.

everything else works. Servers are great and pushes the info to the dbase.

also, reason why I installed it is to see it work. once I have it fully working then show the powers that be and then I will buy the membership.
