Engaged Sweeper
Hi,
I have a Windows 2008 server running the domain and sharepoint 3.0. I came across lansweeper during a search for that kind of software and decided to give it a try. It tried to install but couldn't due to some problem having to do with the SQL portion of the install. It finished the install but with errors. So I uninstalled it intending to try it on another box somewhere which I probably should have done from the get go.

The problem I'm having now is the sharepoint site that runs on the server isn't accessible any more since I uninstalled lansweeper. When trying to access the site it will prompt for a password but then will just sit on a blank screen.

I've tried everything I can think of...running a repair on sharepoint, restarting services for IIS and sharepoint, everything I can think of. Unfortunately I'm not a server 2008 expert nor a sharepoint one.

I'm only asking here just incase anyone else has had a similar issue with sharepoint and figured out how to resolve it.

Thanks,

Usually, the best thing to do is NOT to use the default Sharepoint site collection.

Lansweeper likes to install to the Default Web Site, which uses Port 80.

The Sharepoint default collection also uses Port 80.

Delete the default site collection and create it by using either a different host header or a different port so your Default Web Site (and hence Lansweeper) doesn't go nuts...

The other thing to watch for on Server 2008 x64 is that Lansweeper will change your IIS to 32-bit mode. This makes Baby Sharepoint cry.

When this happens, you'll need to switch your IIS back to 64-bit mode. In the command prompt, run this:

cscript %SYSTEMDRIVE%\inetpub\adminscripts\adsutil.vbs SET W3SVC/AppPools/Enable32bitAppOnWin64 0

...perhaps I should post in the future request section for Lansweeper to allow installing its site in a location other than the Default Web Site as well as not messing with the IIS 32/64-bit mode (or at least warning about this...)

I am running into a simular issue. We installed then uninstalled Sharepoint 3.0 on the server where lansweeper is running and now lansweeper seems to be there but it hasn't polled our domain since the sharepoint was removed. Can I fix lansweeper or will I have to re-install?

In my particular situation I do not get an error message. I get a blank screen after supplying my login to the sharepoint page. The above solution doesn't apply to me.

You get a logon prompt which probably means that the authentication is also not correct.

ddeacon,

Did you find a solution to this issue? I am having the same exact problem that you have described. I cannot get sharepoint to run after lansweeper has been installed. I get prompted with the login screen but they I get "Page cannot be displayed", after attempting to login to sharepoint. This only started occuring after lansweeper was installed.

Hi,
Thx for responding so quickly.

Unfortunately the problem and solution you described is not quite whats happening to me. The microsoft support link you posted says if you got this error:

"You are not authorized to view this page
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials you supplied.

HTTP 401.2 - Unauthorized: Logon failed due to server configuration
Internet Information Services "

In my case however I don't get any errors. I get the password prompt like I should when trying to get on the sharepoint site but then it takes you to a blank screen.

Thanks anyway though. I'll keep looking.

We had a similar problem in the past where lansweeper couldn't start when sharepoint was installed
