Engaged Sweeper II
Hi there, we have Lansweeper premium and are using it to scan several remote branches (not in AD) with the IP scanner. there are >400 machines at the branches and most of them are working fine however we have 43 with a strange issue.

If i click trigger scan on each of them they all scan fine but the IP scan always comes back with Wmierror Access is denied 0x80070005.

Obviously WMI IS working as a manual scan works. Any idea why the automated scan and the manual scan would come up with different results? Any idea on how to fix?

Thanks in advance.

Please contact us by e-mail for this problem.

When you enable audit failures, do you see anything in the event viewer?

I have just checked the workgroup name on this machine and it is indeed BR470.

Hi there!

Yes, there is a domain BR470 with a username .\cgladmin and the correct password specified.
This is actually a workgroup at a remote site. there are three machines at this particular site, the other two are scanning fine.
We have 105 remote sites all setup as workgroups.
There are over 400 machines at the remote sites and only 43 are giving this WMI error.

Is domain "BR470" configured as the default domain for this range?
Did you set up alternate credentials for this domain?

Is BR470 a domain or a workgroup?
Do you have computers where the domain name is the same as the workgroup name?

Computer: BR470TILLS

Scanning done!

I would like the output of "devicetester.exe" instead of the connection tester.

By the way, i have tested this on a machine that is working and am getting the same results.

Hi there, thanks for the reply. I fi use the device tester from the server with no credentials WMI fails with this:-

\root\cimv2 Remote WMI access test FAILED
Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

Remote WMI test
-----------------------------------------------
\root\cimv2 Remote WMI access test FAILED
Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

Remote Registry test using WMI
-----------------------------------------------
\root\default Remote WMI access test FAILED
Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

but if i give it the credentials i have put into the domain settings for the IP scan i get:-

Remote WMI test
-----------------------------------------------
Found: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2
\root\cimv2 Remote WMI access test OK

Remote Registry test using WMI
-----------------------------------------------
Found: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2
\root\default Remote WMI access test OK

When you run the device tester against these machines, what is the output?
