Best way of marking an asset as externally owned

Hi

We have a bunch of assets, on remote LANs that we scan, which are actually owned by a managed service provider, rather than us.

I'd like to run a few reports based on assets that we DO own, and was wondering how others are using Lansweeper to mark assets as not actually owned by yourselves. The idea obviously being that I can exclude those from the reports I want to make.

I'm not seeing anything obvious. And I can't add a user relation since those only work with AD users (and I don't want to put a fake user in my AD representing our MSP!).

Any ideas?

We have them in a different container within AD.

They also don't follow our naming convention so we can exclude them in the asset scanning if they have a certain format their hostnames start with.

Charles' recommendation is exactly what I do. I set a Custom Asset State as 'PERSONAL' and then tag any personal devices that may inadvertently get scanned. We don't allow BYOD personal devices on our network, so this rarely ever happens.

Group the assets.
Create a custom asset state.

Either one can be used to filter out specific assets in a report.
