Hi All,

We are introducing some ESXi 6.5 servers to our estate and I am trying to get Lansweeper working with them. I have enabled the MOB service on them and configured the VMWare credentials in Lansweeper scanning.

Lansweeper appears to scan the hosts without an issue but I get very limited details in the console such as server model (proliant DL360 Gen9), server serial number and MAC address. I don't seem to get any details about the VMs running on the host or the datastore.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Graham

A fix is available in our pre-release build which you can find here: https://www.lansweeper.com/prerelease.aspx

Fixed: #629920 When scanning ESX/VMware servers whose BIOS date cannot be read, certain server details are not retrieved

It should be released soon™. Unfortunately I can't give an exact date since is depends whether new critical bugs come up or not.

I can confirm that the beta version does in fact read ESXI 6.5 machines properly. Thanks!

Bump. Do we really not have an ETA as to when this will be fixed? I have 22 esxi hosts...most of which are 6.5 and having the exact same issues described above.

There is currently a know issue with ESXi scanning. Our development team is aware of this issue and a fix is schedules for our next release. Unfortunately I don't have an estimated date for the release of the fix.

Hi, I've just bumped on this error also, my latest VMWare server just lists manufacturer, model, serial number and little else...

But in my case, I have three equal machines (HPE DL380 Gen9) that we've bought some months ago, the first two whrere installed on the end of October 2017, and those do not have issues, they list everything on Lansweeper...

Now I've installed the third one, and this one has the bug... they all have the same BIOS, the VMWare version is the same (VMware ESXi 6.5.0 build-5969303 VMware, Inc. x86_64, the HPE version), etc.

Running the VMWare debugger I can get a list of all information, so it really seems an issue with LS itself...

I'd recommend doing a test with the VMware debugger which you can find here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rjb3q6j06azmwkm/VMwareScanDebugger.7z

It should give you a more detailed overview of the information retrieved. There is currently a known issue when the bios date cannot be scanned properly that other information is not retrieved. With out next update this should be resolve however.
