Hi Team,

We are facing below challenges please help us with it.

1. APs are discovered as “Linux” type.

2. Servers and switches are discovered as “Printer” type

3. We provided one location IP range, but devices from other regions (mainly PCs) are being discovered.

The issue you are encountering is related to the scanning requirements are not being met for these devices. One reason the access points are identified as Linux devices is that port 22 is open, and most of these assets run a lightweight Linux operating system. However, they do not respond to all the commands used in our Linux scanning logic.


In general, Lansweeper determines the asset type based on factors such as available ports, protocols, and retrieved information during the scan. Lansweeper is capable of scanning a wide range of network devices, including printers, cameras, switches, and access points. However, depending on the required ports, permissions, or credentials, some data may not be accessible during the scan.


In most cases, the SNMP protocol provides Lansweeper with the most detailed information. For additional details, please refer to the documentation here:
