Engaged Sweeper II

We've recently set up our Lansweeper installation, having use the server local model years ago. To get better info, we started testing installing the agent, but we're having duplication issues. The thing is, both records have useful information and don't duplicate each other 1:1. To complicate matters, the laptops this was tested on have multiple MACs, with the agent reporting from the wired MAC while the scan shows the wired/docked set up. In the older tool we'd have looked to merge this data but it looks like in the sites model selecting all or nothing is the only option, with only one record being kept. Can we instead merge the data, keeping what's needed of both? Is there any good way to deal with multiple MACs with wired/wireless?

Is there anyway to retain both MAC addresses? I think this error is mainly happening because we have systems scanned or agent reported as both wireless MAC and Wired (docked) MAC.

Hi,

Normally, while scanning, Lansweeper compares the scanned data with existing data that is already stored in the database. If Lansweeper finds a match for the scanned data, the existing asset is updated with the scanned data. However, if no existing asset is found, or Lansweeper is unable to verify that the scanned information belongs to an existing asset. Lansweeper will instead create a new asset containing the newly scanned data.

As long as the properties Lansweeper uses to uniquely identify assets are unchanged, assets are not duplicated. In the case of Windows, in particular, the NetBIOS computer and domain name are used as unique identifiers, if these do change, an additional feature, rename detection helps prevent duplication. More information can be found in the articles below:

Rename detection
For rename detection to work, Lansweeper needs the following information:
MAC address
Model
Serial

There is a feature within rename detection where you can select model and serial only.
