Normally, while scanning, Lansweeper compares the scanned data with existing data that is already stored in the database. If Lansweeper finds a match for the scanned data, the existing asset is updated with the scanned data. However, if no existing asset is found, or Lansweeper is unable to verify that the scanned information belongs to an existing asset. Lansweeper will instead create a new asset containing the newly scanned data.
As long as the properties Lansweeper uses to uniquely identify assets are unchanged, assets are not duplicated. In the case of Windows, in particular, the NetBIOS computer and domain name are used as unique identifiers, if these do change, an additional feature, rename detection helps prevent duplication. MAC address
Model
Serial
There is a feature within rename detection where you can select model and serial only.
