An asset API has been requested before and is already on our customer wishlist. We've added your feedback to this item in our internal feature tracking system. At this moment in time we don't have an estimated release date yet though for the asset API.
Lansweeper should be able to discover all devices that have one of the protocols available listed at the top of
this article. An asset is created for any successful ping that also returns additional data, such as a MAC address. You could also have an asset page be generated for every successful ping by enabling "Save Pinged IP" in the IP Range scanning target's options under Scanning\Scanning Targets.
