As we all know, currently the assets are only visible in the web console while in an active state, or specifically looked up by the asset itself or the asset states reports (with the added exception of modifying reports to show all assets regardless of the state).

I am requesting that a check box be added next to the asset state to allow the asset to be either visible (as if it is set to active) or hidden instead of defaulting to hidden when the state is not set to active.

This can facilitate active reporting of remote systems, pool systems, and other states within reports and site groupings while not compromising the information that is displayed. Just because a system in in the pool does not mean it is not assigned to a site and actively used, or that a remote system is not assigned to a site and actively accounted for. The asset state is still important, but so is it's visibility in normal menu's and views.
