Lansweeper can automatically scan any asset that has an IP address that is pingable and has one of the protocols available listed in
this article. Unfortunately, peripherals such as mice and keyboards don't fall within this category and will not be automatically scannable and would have to be created manually or by using our
import template.
As it stands currently, connected peripherals are scanned as a part of Windows computer scanning, but these devices are not uniquely identifiable, as they receive a DeviceID from the Windows OS which doesn't get transferred over if the peripheral is attached to a different computer. Attached peripherals can be found on Windows asset pages in the Config\Devices and Config\Hardware\USB Devices sections among others.
We do have a request on our customer wishlist for the purpose of inventorying peripherals and other assets that aren't network devices as separate assets. We've moved this topic to the wishlist section in this context. At this moment in time though we unfortunately cannot guarantee that this feature will be added and cannot provide you with an estimated release date.
