Active Directory Organizational Unit (OU) Information Missing in Reports

Summary

Symptoms

When generating a report that includes the tblADComputers.OU field (such as when checking which computers belong to specific Active Directory Organizational Units), the OU column appears empty for all Windows assets.

Environment

Lansweeper installation with Active Directory domain scanning.

Root Cause

OU information is only collected during Active Directory Domain Scanning. If an asset has been scanned only via IP Range, WMI, Agent, or SSH scanning, the Active Directory details (including OU) will not be populated. As a result, the tblADComputers.OU field remains empty in reports.

How to Confirm

Open one of the affected assets and review its summary page:

1. Open the asset in the Lansweeper web console.
2. Check the Asset Summary page.
3. Look for the Active Directory Information section.

If this section is missing, the asset has not been scanned by Active Directory Domain Scanning.

Resolution

1. Ensure that an Active Directory Domain scanning target is configured and enabled. Refer to this guide for configuration steps.
2. Verify that valid domain credentials are assigned under Scanning > Credentials.
3. Rescan an affected asset by selecting Rescan Asset AD & Windows, then allow time for the scan to complete.
4. If OU information still does not appear, collect diagnostics using the GatherLogs tool as described here and contact support for further review.

Verification

After a successful Active Directory scan:

• The Active Directory Information section will appear in the asset's summary page.
• The tblADComputers.OU field will display correctly in reports.
