Summary
When running Lansweeper on-premises, certain folders should be excluded (whitelisted) in your antivirus or endpoint protection solution to ensure proper operation and to prevent false positives.
Applies to
Recommended Antivirus Exclusions
1. Lansweeper Installation Directory
For a default Lansweeper server installation, whitelist the following folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Lansweeper\
This is the main Lansweeper installation directory and includes all required subfolders used for:
- Scanning components
- Services and executables
- Configuration files
Whitelisting this parent directory ensures all dependent subfolders are covered.

2. Auto-Update Data Directory (If Auto-Update Is Enabled)
If you are using the Lansweeper auto-update feature, you should also whitelist:
C:\ProgramData\Lansweeper\
This directory is used by Lansweeper to temporarily store update packages and related data. Some antivirus solutions may incorrectly flag these update files, which can cause update failures or alerts.

Notes
-
Folder paths may differ if Lansweeper was installed in a non-default location. In that case, whitelist the custom installation path instead.
-
Whitelisting should be configured on the Lansweeper server itself and, where applicable, on any system running Lansweeper scanning components.
-
Consult your antivirus vendor’s documentation for instructions on how to create folder-level exclusions.
