still working on iexplore.exe file search and report. searching on:

%programfiles%\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

which seems to work for IE ver 6.x and 7.x, but not 8. When viewing 'configuration browser\file info" for machine running IE8, get no information, like no file scanning is configured.

Solution confirmed, now reporting IE ver8 file version correctly. Thanks for the help.

Problem confirmed:

Field version is 50 characters long, some versions of Internet explorer 8 are longer:
"8.00.6001.18702 (longhorn_ie8_rtm(wmbla).090308-0339)"

Solution: edit the table tblfileversion and make the field "FileVersion" 100 instead of 50

different issue. I am getting file scanning results for iexplore.exe when the version is 6.x or 7.x. However, when a pc is running version 8.x, Lansweeper doesn't find iexplore. But it does exist. I'm wondering why Lansweeper doesn't report correctly on version 8.x. See attached .jpg in my earlier post--that is what is displayed for a machine running IE8.

In this post it seemed like you solved the problem?
or is this a different problem?

I've attached a screenshot in my original post of what we see when the machine is running IE8.

Do you get a "file found" with no information or a "file not found"?
