FQDN in URLs

I'm using urls to point from one application to LANSweeper by using the computer name. Works fine for Windows-based systems, but I have to use FQDN to do the same thing for Linux, Unix, and other network-type devices. How can I do the same thing for these devices as I do for Windows-based machines or use the FQDN across the board for everything?

It is not currently possible to link to an asset based on FQDN. This feature is on our customer wish list, but we do not yet have a release date for it.
