Incorrect number of IE installations showing up

hi
ive noticed that the number of software installtions for Internet explorer compared to the number of xp installations seems to way off.
ie we have 325 installations of xp, 100 server 2003 , and there only seems to be 198 instances of IE6,7 and 8.

IE is installed on every machine we use here, so we are a bit suprised by the number diffrence.

any ideas on how to get the correct info back,?

Did you set the registry waittime to 0?
Were the missing computers online meanwhile? (you can check the lastseen date)

ok, i have been away for the best part of 6 weeks, and i returned to work, i said id check how far along the scanning had gone, and it only got 78% scanned.

obvioulsly i would like to have a report based on 100% of the machines, so whats going wrong, why is it taking so long to get me the full amount of the info?

ok, so which of the "scanned items" name is relevant to the computer scan, and ill set that to zero also.

(or does it make any diffrence?)

Yes, it scans everytime the computer is scanned.

under "item wait time", "scanned item", registry is allready set to 0 under "scan every x days"

so does that mean its scanned every day?

Take a look at the waittime for "registry" and set it to 0

Go to configuration/Scanned registry keys and add the key you want.

Rootkey : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Regpath : SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
RegValue : Version
Enabled : checked

Afterwards create a report based on table "tblregistry"

im trying the report builder now, but lansweeper is only pulling back info that it has found allready.

A Command Prompt window opens and displays the Internet Explorer version in a format that resembles the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
Version REG_SZ 6.00.2900.2180

The first number after REG_SZ is your Internet Explorer version. In this example, the version is Internet Explorer 6.

do you think or know how i could incorporate the above so that i can get an up to date list of all versions of internet explorer that is installed.

Adding a file to the custom scanning does not add it to the list of installed software.
You will need to create a custom report to list all computers with the iexplore.exe and their version.
