I had lansweeper running on an XP Laptop that died and I'm just getting around to reinstalling. My currecnt machine is Windows 7, 64x. and up until it asks you "How qouls you like Lansweeper Web Console to be insalled?" I have had no problems. I was happy with the default choices :

Create a new web site using the lansweeper Build-In-Web Server (recommended)

and

New Web site will run on Port : 80.

When I click next I'm told "The port "80" is already in use by another application, please specify another port. This was puzzling becasue as far as I knew there was nothing running on that port. So I ran a netstat, and reviewed the long list, I see nothing running on port 80. So I wouldnt have to look through the entire list I ran

netstat -o -n -a | findstr 0.0:80

again - nothing . . . .

Can anyone tell me what gives? 🙂

Thanks!

Is this an issue that anyone with lansweeper support would like to try and resolve or is this the only solution anyone is interested in providing?

This issue is indeed the first time this happened.

When you select port 90 for example the only thing that changes is that you need to surf to http://servername:90 (with the port in the url)

All right - well judging from the lack of response this issue must not have come up before? I'm not sure how to proceed.

How are you guys detecting that something is using port 80? Is this an issue worth figuring out - or do I just select another port. I tried 81, and it also said it was not available. I tried 90 and it was. What are the ramifications of selecting an alternate port? Through the installation proces if I select an alternate port are all the settings going to be modified to use the alternate port so I don't have to make any changes to use the application?

Thanks.

Here are the results from my netstat -a - maybe i'm missing something?

IIS is not installed. That would have shown up on the netstat. How do premium users obtain support?? is it only throgh the support forums?

Maybe default IIS installation?
