I work for a company who run a service desk supporting multiple customers and sites.

We have been looking for a tool than will scan our customers networks and report back to either a single server on their site or a central server at our site.

I dont think LanSweeper can do the 2nd option of reporting back from all clients to one central server, however the first option will be good enough.

What want to do though is for it to run a scan on the customers site, pick up all computers, servers, printers and everything attached to the network.

We would then like to pull the information off the server in the form of a CSV file or XML feed so we can then import it in to our helpdesk system. This way we can report faults against specific assets and update the asset list once a quarter.

so my questions are:

1) Is it possible for lansweeper to export the info in this way?

2) Does LanSweeper pick up info on printers, routers etc?

3) Anyone think of a better way of doing this 🙂 ?

Thanks for the replies.

Cobra, there are quite a few, have you seen spiceworks? Doesnt quite fit my needs in this job, but used it in my last position and it really is a fantastic bit of freeware (well ad supported, but not in a bad way)

1. Yes, both are supported
2. No, however I remember someone talking about another application that can. I also think I remember Lansweeper saying this may be done sometime.
3. As far as I know, no other application can pull as much data from a network without a client. You would need to try it on a live network to truly understand how good this program is.
